(Parigi, 1797 - 1871)

work of the French painter who studied at Girodet and Bidauld. In 1827 he entered Ingres's studio where he learned academic-style landscape painting which he changed, after his beginnings, into an outdoor painting, looking for subjects in Italy, where he made numerous trips, and in Greece. He also addressed romantic themes inspired by his travels to the East, particularly Turkey and Egypt. Period frame in gilded and carved wood, 54 x 81 cm.
